the party
When: Sunday, October 2, 2005
What: Drew's First Birthday Party
Where: Table Rock State Park, Pickens, SC

Grandmother watches Drew while we blow up balloons and decorate the picnic shelter.

The VeggieTales birthday cake. Enough frosting to induce a diabetic coma.
Drew's very own cake, none of which he will eat and most of which I probably will.
The motherlode.
Dad says, "Let's kick-start this party."
Drew says, "I don't really care for any cake, but I will eat this candle wax, thanks."
The tissue paper really is the best part of any present.
Drew thought I wasn't unwrapping fast enough.
The fabulous play table kept Drew, and the rest of us, entertained for much of the party. Thanks to Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Paul!
Getting presents is so much fun, I should turn one every day!!!
Special thanks to all of our guests: Grandmother and Grandfather Mauldin, Aunt Laura and her boyfriend Eric, Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Paul, Great-Grandnana Lila and her friend Phil, Jack and Liz and Megan and Aaron. You guys really helped make this day special.
However, Drew's dad would like me to tell you all that you did not eat enough cake and cupcakes, and to berate you for allowing me to bring the leftovers home.
I say there's always room for cake.
